Zoë Komarin Food curator, mom, Mouthbrainer, etc
I call myself a food curator because the title of chef feels too formal and limiting. While I do of course cook food, that act has always meant more to me than just feeding people.
ZoeFoodParty came about after 15+ years of working in this industry. Honing my skills running a restaurant, bakery, pop-ups, and events throughout US and Europe, the common thread has always been my “camp counselor” energy, and my love of sharing the creative process. I approach food as playful and collaborative, and that has allowed me to bear witness to temporary forms of community, like those found at my events. After all, a shared plate only goes as far as the joy people experience while eating it.
“MouthBrain” is the term I use to describe what connects food and memory, and my latest project, The MouthBrain Sessions, are a hands-on dinner party series that does just that. They allow us to foster the next level of food based connectivity. The menu is improvised and the recipes are too, so that each group experiences the process of brainstorming and creating together. It’s a singular experience because the result could only have come from the combination of each group’s individual MouthBrains, and the produce with which we cook from.
